Charles Carter

Charles Carter, born in 1735 in Goochland Co., Va. to Robert Carter. Married Judith Carter, 1738-1802, in 1756 in Goochland, Co., Va. She was a d/o Thomas Carter, Jr. Charles entered the 1st Va. Regiment of Foot in March 1777. He is sent to Valley Forge, serves 3 years and is discharged in Philadephia in Feb. 1780. He does not make it home. His widow, Judith Carter receives a Widow's Pension upon oath of 5 of his comrades who swear he died in the service of his country. Unknown where, how or when he dies, but it has to be after his discharge in Feb. 1780. A book 'Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots, Vol.1, p. Serial: 6924; Volume: 14,' lists a Charles Carter buried on the Stillwagon Family Farm in Butler Co., Pa.
